Efficiency Analyses – Optimization and Troubleshooting Membrane Plants

Client:
Parker Water and Sanitation District, Colorado

Project Overview:
Parker Water & Sanitation District operates the 10 million gallon per day Rueter-Hess Water Purification Facility (RHWPF).  RHWPF is composed of a complex pretreatment system using Acti-Turbo and Acti-Carb followed by ceramic microfiltration (CMF) for membrane filtration. RHWPF has experienced multiple challenges since start-up of the plant in 2015, including severe fouling of the CMF. The plant is now experiencing a second episode of membrane fouling as well as physical failures (integrity) of the ceramic elements, limiting production capability. KMS is performing a detailed efficiency analysis of the RHWPF pretreatment and membrane system to both optimize the plant and determine the causes of the membrane system challenges. Numerous diagnostic techniques have been incorporated into the analysis to identify a rehabilitation program to restore membrane performance and the production capacity of RHWPF.
